Provision of Home Care During COVID 19 Pandemic

COHME Inc. is dedicated to the safety and health of our staff and to those to whom we are providing care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, COHME Home Care has implemented the following policies and protocols to ensure that everyone we are serving remains healthy.

Staff Self-screening

All staff are required to screen themselves and report to COHME Home Care nurses every day to ensure they do not have a fever or other COVID-19 symptoms.

Protective Equipment

COHME Home Care provides personal protective equipment on an on-going basis to our staff and has helped those we service to obtain equipment in cases when they were unable to order it themselves. Surgical masks and gloves are being provided to all staff regularly, as well as N95 masks, face shields and gowns, as needed.

Infection Control Training

All COHME home health aides have had in-service training regarding Infection Control.  All aides have attended a one-on-one session with our nurses regarding COVID-19 focusing on how to minimize the risk of becoming infected or transmitting infection. Aides are trained to wear their equipment, identify symptoms, and maintain infection control practices such as handwashing and regular cleaning of high contact surfaces.

Social Distancing

In doing our best to protect our staff and those we give care to, COHME also has minimized any non-urgent in-person visits by using telephone or tele-health visits when possible.

Monitoring of New Guidelines

COHME’s nursing and social work staff are constantly monitoring the CDC and NY State Department of Health procedures and guidelines to incorporate the most current medical information into our practices.
